About the Committee
Chaired by the Director-at-Large for Publications, the Publications Committee meets two to three times per year and provides input on issues relating to BSA’s publications (including the American Journal of Botany, Plant Science Bulletin, and Applications in Plant Sciences). The committee seeks to elevate the BSA to be one of the most influential publishers of scientific content in plant biology. The committee coordinates with the editors and associate editors on issues regarding their publications and considers and provides advice on new activities and initiatives, addresses issues impacting the publications, such as open access, subjects to be covered, and other matters arising from the publications. As an example, the committee provided input on how to solicit articles for and advertise the new AJB review article category.
Member Criteria
Committee membership is open to all BSA membership categories: emeritus, retired, professional, affiliate, postdoc, student, developing nation. Committees strive for both institutional/organizational and geographic diversity. Committee members are expected to participate and be engaged in committee activities and have a genuine interest in the mission of the committee.
Time Commitment
At least two meetings per year, with one meeting normally taking place during the Botany conference. Members serve three-year terms, except for student members whose terms are for two years.
Students
This committee has one student as part of its composition. The student representative on this committee is expected to provide general feedback about BSA's publications, or specific issues as the need arises.
